Harvard Ref is a University project developed at Bournemouth Univesity Media School for Excellence as apart of a degree: BA (Hons) Interactive Media Production. The aim of Harvard Ref is to make referencing quick and simple for students across the UK and potentially around the world. By making referencing social, gives the ability to track essays and dissertations, also giving the option to share and recommend books to classmates and students all over the UK.



FAQs.

How do I register?

If you click on the Register tab and begin entering a username in the usename field the text bellow will inform you as to whether you selected username is available.

After selecting a valid username, enter your FULL name as well as your email address. Be sure to confim you email address in the appropriate field.

Enter your age and a series of characters to confirm you are not a bot.

Accept the terms and conditions by ticked the box labeled terms and conditions and confirm if you would like to recieve our news letter and click next.

In the next screen select a Network, such as Southampton or Bournemouth and then select the course you are on. You can suggest Networks to be added to the site if your current network is not available.

If you then click next your registartion will be complete. Your password will be displayed and you will be able to use this along with your username to login via the login page. An email will be sent to your email address confirming these details.

How do I access my Profile?

If you click the Profile tab from any page you will be able to access your profile. If the Profile tab is not visible this is because you are not logged in. Use the Login tab to log in and you should then be able to access your Profile using the above method.

How do I view my Bibliographies?

Your bibliographies are accesible via your Profile. If you are in your profile area and cannot see your Bibliographies use the Bibliographies tab on the left hand side of the page.

How do I change my password?

Once in the your Profile for the site, use the tab situated to the left hand side labelled My Preferences. Insert your new password into the field labeled new Password and thern below confirm your chosen password. Once you have clicked Save Password your new password will be saved.

How do I edit my references?

Once in your Profile and with the My Bibliographies tab selcted click the bibliography you wish to edit. If you then click the reference in question you can begin editing it. Once you are done editing you can Save, Delete or Cancel your editions by clicking the appropriate button.

How do I print off my Bibliography?

If you click on the text, Print, on the relevant Biliography a new window will open with your bibliography within. You can change the font, its size and colour using the drop down menus above. If you then click the print button you should begin the printing process.

How do I reorganise my Bibliographies?

Reorganising your Bibliographies is simple. Using your mouse if you drag the coloured area of your bibliography drag and drop your bibliography into the area you want it. When you revisit your bibliographies they will be displayed in your selected order.

How do I view my Network?

Once logged in if you click the Network tab and then the second Network tab below, you can view details regarding your Network.

How do I create a Bibliography?

Once logged in and on the Home tab click, Create Bibliogrphy. Some form elements will appear. If you name your Bibliography and then add any tags that my be realated to the bibliography seperating each tag with a space.

How do I make a reference manually?

First, click the Home taband click the Manual Reference Mode text. Firstly, make sure you have the relevant bibliography selected. If you then fill out the fields listed: Author, Title, Year Of Publication, Place Of Publication, Publisher, Edition and if neccassary pages. Once this is done click generate to create the bibliography. You can then save the reference to the Bibliography by clicking the Save button or refresh the form by clicking the Start Again button.

How do I make a reference automatically?

First, click the Home tab. The Automatic Reference Mode should be selcted. If not click the text Automatic Refernce Mode. Use the search field to find an Author or Title you should be able to filter through the products that match your search. By clicking on the Get Reference button a reference regarding that product will be created. You will have to fill in the remaining fields simialr to the manual referencing method and then by clicking Save Reference it will be saved to the bibliorpgy you have seleted in the top right corner. You can also by clicking the title or image of the product visit amazons site to purchase the product or use some of the tools Amazon has to offer, such as preview.

Where do the automatic references come from?

All automatic refernces are taken straight from Amazon. We use their database of products and utilies the information they have available within their database.
